Cool room warming up? Freezer not freezing? Display fridge dead with a full load of stock? Call us now on 1300 553 744.

LJ Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning repairs commercial refrigeration for businesses across Adelaide and surrounds. When it’s urgent, we aim to respond as fast as we can — same-day where possible — and we’ll always give you a realistic timeframe when you call. No vague promises, no call centre. You’ll talk to people who actually do the work.

Open Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm.

When to call urgently

Don’t wait to see if it comes good. Call straight away if:

  • Temperature is rising in a cool room, freezer or fridge and not recovering
  • Stock is at risk — product is approaching or past safe temperatures
  • The system is running non-stop but not cooling
  • The system has stopped completely — no fans, no compressor, no lights on the controller
  • Ice is building fast on coils, or the evaporator has iced solid
  • Water is leaking or flooding onto the floor
  • Burning smell, loud banging or grinding from the unit — switch it off at the isolator if it’s safe to do so

What to do while you wait

These steps can buy you time and protect your stock:

  1. Keep doors shut. Every opening lets cold out. Plan what you need before you go in.
  2. Check the temperature and write it down, with the time. It helps us and helps you with food-safety records.
  3. Move high-risk stock to another working fridge or freezer if you have one.
  4. Check the basics — has a circuit breaker tripped? Is the door closing and sealing? Is the condenser blocked by boxes or clogged with dust?
  5. Don’t keep resetting a unit that keeps tripping. Leave it off and tell us.
  6. Follow your food safety plan for any stock that’s been out of temperature.

What happens when you call

  1. We ask a few quick questions — what the equipment is, what it’s doing, current temperature and what stock is in it.
  2. We give you a realistic timeframe. If we can get there today, we’ll tell you. If we can’t, we’ll tell you that too, so you can make other arrangements.
  3. We diagnose on site. Proper fault-finding to find the actual cause — refrigerant leak, fan, compressor, controller, defrost, electrical or airflow.
  4. We tell you the cost before we start the repair.
  5. We fix it, or get you running. We carry common parts and aim to fix most faults on the first visit. If a part has to be ordered, we’ll explain the options to keep you going in the meantime where possible.
  6. We explain what happened and what to watch for, so it’s less likely to happen again.

Our hours — straight up

Our hours are Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm. Within those hours we aim to respond fast and same-day where we can, depending on where you are and what’s already booked.

We’d rather give you an honest timeframe than promise something we can’t deliver. A regular service is the best way to avoid weekend breakdowns in the first place.

What we repair

Prevent the next breakdown

Most urgent call-outs we attend had warning signs: longer run times, a fan getting noisy, a door seal letting go, a condenser full of dust. A refrigeration maintenance plan puts your equipment on a regular service schedule so we can pick those up before they turn into a panic on a busy day.

Frequently asked questions

How fast can you get to an urgent refrigeration breakdown?

We aim to respond as fast as possible — same-day where we can — and we’ll give you a realistic timeframe when you call. It depends on your location and what’s already booked that day. Call 1300 553 744.

Are you available 24/7?

No. Our hours are Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm. We’d rather be upfront about that than promise a response we can’t guarantee. Regular servicing is the best way to reduce the risk of a breakdown outside business hours.

What areas do you cover for urgent repairs?

Adelaide and surrounds, including the northern and southern suburbs, the Adelaide Hills and the Barossa. We’re based in Angle Vale, in Adelaide’s north.

Should I turn my cool room or freezer off if it’s not working?

If it’s making burning smells, loud mechanical noises, tripping power or leaking heavily, switch it off at the isolator if it’s safe to do so and call us. Otherwise, keep the doors shut, write down the temperature and call — we’ll talk you through it.

Will you fix it on the first visit?

Often, yes. We carry common parts and aim to fix most faults on the first visit. If a part needs ordering, we’ll tell you how long it’s likely to take and what can be done in the meantime.
